This is the page of dogs that society has thrown away.....the page that shows you where your donations are used...........these are the dogs that are beatened, casted off because they had the NERVE to get old or sick..........this is the page that drives me to do rescue and this is the page thats the reason YOU are either GOING to adopt from this rescue or ALREADY HAVE!!!...some of these dogs are on our "adoptable pages", we post them in hopes that there is somebody who can take them into their home but, truth be told, we know they will never leave and that they too will be lifers here. These pooches are just a few of our hospice dogs.

Twinkles was on the euthanasia list in a NYC shelter. She has a slipped disc whihc does not allow her to walk on her hind legs. This was an old injury that could no longer be surgically repaired. Twinkles is a loving 7 year old pekingese who needs her bladder expressed on a daily basis.

Major is the most gentle little chi boy you will ever meet. He has been with us now for 2 years while he continues to battle liver and kidney failure. He arrived here with his 2 brothers who have now gone to the bridge. He is 12 years old and is being treated both conventionally as well as holistically. He is worth every ounce of special care that he receives. The dog you adopt here will continue to save his life !!!
Murphy is a 13 year old Yorkie who is battling kidney failure and is EXTREMELY arthritic. He asks and wants for NOTHING....an absolutely precious boy who continiues to fight to live because he is very happy here.
Mac was to be euthanised in the NYC shelter.....he was beaten either by his previous owner or by somebody when he was on the street. He needed to have his eye removed but, believe it or not that was the least of his problems. Mac has a fracture to his pelvis, the vets feel it was most likely from being kicked very hard. He sometimes has difficulty walking and due to his fracture we decided to keep him here because his medical care down the road may be quite extensive if he requires surgery.

Louie is our 14 year old heinz 57. He is now battling kidney failure as well as a thyroid problem. He is one of our bigger boys, yet still is always sweet even when the little puppies are tugging at his ears and his tail.
Meet Goober!! He is our "special angel" as well as a hugh GROUP effort to keep him alive. Goober received to many vaccines at 10 weeks of age and now that he is 16 weeks he has neurological damage. When his brain isnt on the "fritz" he is the funniest little guy you will ever meet...he is also very pushy :o)...he will stand and bark at us for food, this is quite amusing when you are looking down at a 2 lb puppy.....we are ALWAYS thrilled to feed him because we all remember how we had to force feed him. This little guy cuddles in my neck making me love him more then words can ever say.
here's Goober sleeping with his friend Deniro.... awwww!!!!
more hospice pics coming soon :O)
Sugar arrived here from another rescue at only 10 weeks old. LFF was asked to take him because they had no idea that he was hypoglycemic and once they realized they needed help because they have full time jobs and Sugar needed 24/7 care. Sugar had a really bad bout with hypoglycemia, hence the name "Sugar"......I held onto him for quite some time, I didnt want to adopt him till I knew he was 100%......I guess it was meant to be that I did so, because at 6 months of age, Sugar was diagnosed with severe kidney failure. This was most likely genetic and he is now on herbal remedies for kidney failure which he is doing VERY WELL on. Sugar is only 5 lbs and is a very sweet little boy. I would have to say that since his recent battle with kidney failure he has attached himself to me like glue, its amazing how the animals KNOW when you have helped them and how they show their gratitude. Sugar will stay here for all his years to come.
