 A frequently asked question is,"how do you get so many perfect adorable puppies in rescue. Well, thats the part that many of you dont understand.  The puppies that you see on line that are up for adoption are the ones who were fortunate enough to survive.  Fact is if lets say 10 pups arrive here, AT LEAST 2 will die here.  These pups come here many times in very poor condition and health, the on lline pups were the stronger babies or the ones we have rehabilitated.  Although when we adopt puppies we are always hoping to be able to use the funding for the seniors, many times it actually is spent on the sick pups that we spend alot of money trying to save.  When rescuing puppies, I can tell you first hand the work is EXTENSIVE!!  There are many "all nighters" trying to keep a puppy alive, when the cost of us sleeping would mean the cost of a puppies life, then sleeping is a luxury we can not afford so, when a puppy is crashing, there is no other choice but to stay up with them all night hoping they will survive.  There are many illnesses that puppies can come here with or they can come in with weakened immune systems from the use of over vaccinating, or they are sooooooo small that they become hypoglycemic(low sugar count), in any event, it means we are NOT SLEEPING that night, many times we are successful and the puppy survives and sadly, there are many times that they dont. I am night shiht here, what exactly does that mean, well, it means that I am here and working with the dogs the entire night, if any of you ever had a dog, think about when they get sick what time it usually is, well, it's in the wee hours of the morning when the vets fees are double (lol) so, I would rather stay up then wake up to find I have lost an innocent life.  Many of you may wonder how we are able to deal with the loss of so many, truth is we dont deal well with it AT ALL, we just learn that we can not allow ourselves to "shut down" or "crumble" or we are useless to the next pup that needs us.  There are many nights that while I sleep the faces of those puppies play over in my head like a film strip, I see them dying repeatedly, I remember how they died, what time they died, perhaps, I remember too much!  There is a constant pounding in your heart when you know that despite all efforts made you couldnt get a puppy up and going again, it is a horrible sense of failure and one that does not sit well with me, I try to figure out what I did wrong, why my efforts failed and how I can be more successful the next time.  

.........Then there are the long term pups meaning, pups that we have had here for MONTHS trying to get them healthy again.  Pups that we have been working with holistically to heal so that they can one day be adopted with no "issues" or "special needs"  You must also realize the pups that are now permanent member of LFF, these are the pups that we have gotten better but, they still have several health issues making them unadoptable.  Many of these pups are vicitm to being overvaccinated, they now have either epilepsy or brain damage.........so, please remember with me these tiny faces that I see in my dreams each night , the first group of pups are with the angels some of these pups were with us for weeks, others only days, this is only a fraction of pups that have passed, I post them only so you too can look into their eyes and know what it is like to suffer their loss, the other pups are either soon to be posted as adoptable or will be with LFF for life!

This is how many of them look when they arrive, we rarely take pics of them when they look like this because we are more concerned about immediately giving them supportive care and there is just no time.....believe it or not, this is a YORKIE!!!!

Goober

Goober is a brussels griffon, he gets smaller by the day and has lost all his hair.  This is all typical of a pup that has been OVER VACCINATED!  We have all bonded to this needy little guy who is brain damaged for life.  We are unable to find much more information in regards to his health because he is just to tiny to give blood....PRAYERS FOR GOOBER PLEASE!!!!
